How To
Tools
Workspace tools, integration tools, and built-in system tools
Overview
Tools are what your agent can do beyond talking. During a call, the agent can decide to invoke a tool when it needs to look something up or take an action in a third-party system.
Tool types in urvo
- Workspace tools (webhook/client tools): You create these in the dashboard and they call external HTTP endpoints.
- Integration tools: These are provided by connected third-party integrations (CRM, calendar, support, productivity, etc.). Enabling an integration tool creates a tool instance for your workspace.
- Built-in tools (system tools): Conversation control actions handled by urvo (end conversation, language detection, transfer, voicemail handling, etc.).
Recommended flow
- Create your workspace webhook tools (if you need custom API calls).
- Connect third-party services via Integrations, then enable the specific integration tools you want.
- Configure your agent’s built-in system tools (transfer rules, keypad tones, voicemail message, etc.).
- Add all tools to your agent (sync). The dashboard syncs tool references in urvo (so the same workspace tool can be reused across agents). Then use Test Agent to verify tool calls and results.
